Broad-Based Black Empowerment

Moteko is committed to the implementation of Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) and has been verified as a ??? to BBBEE. BBBEE is a South African Government initiative driven by the Department of Trade and Industry. This initiative aims to facilitate the involvement and participation of all historically disadvantaged individuals, broadening the country’s economic base and stimulating economic growth and employment.

Black economic empowerment – or broad-based black economic empowerment, as it is technically known – is not affirmative action, although employment equity forms part of it. Nor does it aim to take wealth from white people and give it to blacks. It is essentially a growth strategy, targeting the South African economy's weakest point: inequality.

"Our country requires an economy that can meet the needs of all our economic citizens – our people and their enterprises – in a sustainable manner," the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) says in its BEE strategy document.

Moteko is wholly owned by Africans and we promote gender equality. We uphold principles of affirmative action and gender equality in all its operations.

"Moteko is committed to providing Social Responsibility through involvement with various charities and community groups as a way to provide something back to local community."
